3.3.06 - M.Doohan watches Jan Kopecký´s test driving
The Czech Rally Team Škoda-Kopecký continued its preparations for the fourth event in the World Rally Championship, due to take place in Spain at the end of March. Jan Kopecký gave his Škoda Fabia WRC a workout in the presence of hordes of journalists and photographers in Zdice, in Berounsko.
The test driving was also attended by Michael Doohan, five times winner of the 500cc World Championship, who is one of three owners of a sports marketing agency. Jan Kopecký is one of the drivers the agency is eager to promote:
‘We have big plans, but we want to release the details gradually. It goes without saying that they focus on the world of motoring, as this is an area where we have good contacts,’ said Michael Doohan.
Michael Doohan also had a close-up of Jan Kopecký’s skills when he joined him as co-driver: ‘It was an absolutely safe ride because I knew Jan hardly ever takes a knock. But he didn’t go light on me – he drove really fast,’ said Doohan afterwards.
‘Michael Doohan is one of motoring´s figureheads. His interest in our project is fantastic news and we really appreciate it. I am already geared up for Spain, where we are keen to get a good result. The team has done some good work on preparing the car. The weather has complicated the situation a bit though because it’s still deep winter in the Czech Republic and there is little opportunity to get the necessary kilometres on dry asphalt under our belts,’
said Jan Kopecký.
