Jan Kopecký of ŠKODA Motorsport has won the Rally category of the 2011 Golden Steering Wheel, a long-established survey among Czech motoring journalists and experts. After winning this award for four consecutive years, Kopecký has now won his fifth Golden Wheel.

After a dramatic spectacle, Jan Kopecký & Pavel Dresler of ŠKODA Motorsport won and their teammates Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula came second. Taking place in the surroundings of the Austrian town of Freistadt, the opening event of the European and Czech Championships, the Jänner Rallye, has been dominated by ŠKODA Motorsport and Fabia Super 2000s.

Jan Kopecký of ŠKODA Motorsport came second in Cyprus to finish second overall, thus becoming the IRC Vice-Champion for the third consecutive year.

Driving a ŠKODA Fabia S2000, Jan Kopecký of ŠKODA Motorsport achieved the tightest victory in the history of the IRC Championship when T. Neuville in a Peugeot came just 0.8 sec behind him, F. Loix, also in a Fabia, finished third.
